Hello Jewelry Lovers, Gold Enthusiast, and Futurist,
As the longest night of the year has come and gone, we turn our faces toward the light. Across cultures; from Hanukkah and Shab-e Yalda to Christmas. This season marks rebirth, renewal, and reflection. And honestly? After this year, I think we all deserve a little more light (and sparkle) in our lives.
Here at Adornment & Theory, we like to think we’re adding a little illumination of our own through beauty, design, humor, and the kind of deep thoughtfulness that never goes out of style.
As with every monthly series I will be sharing with you the latest happenings going on in our jewel box, tips and tricks, and what's inspiring me or catching my eye in the world of design and jewelry. This month is no different.
Gold Rush
Gold continues its unstoppable ascent, now reaching an all-time high of $4,480 per ounce (as of this writing) the highest price in history! But before we clutch our pearls, let’s remember we’ve seen this before. In 1849, people literally dropped everything to chase gold across the country, birthing the legendary Gold Rush. Today’s rush is less pickaxes and more polished; investors, collectors, and style aficionados are once again hoarding gold like dragon treasure. And while financial analysts in the media warned of economic uncertainty, consumers chose to invest in something that holds both value and meaning.
Consumers are buying more gold than ever, and they’re doing it through jewelry. Because let’s face it, if you’re going to diversify your portfolio, it might as well come in 18k.
Jewelry has become the new safe haven; timeless, wearable wealth that tells a story.
Because let’s be honest: nothing feels better than a good investment that also makes you feel fabulous.
Dessert Diamonds
DeBeers Group is taking a new approach to its ever losing battle of natural vs lab grown diamond debate as they saw profits plummet over the last two years. The result? The rebranding of brown diamonds to Desert Diamonds. You might have remembered in the 90’s when LeVian had the big chocolate diamond campaigns? LeVian took stones that were otherwise discarded for their brown color and gave them new life in the hands of skilled designers. DeBeers is taking a page from the same playbook, and placing Desert Diamonds on key celebrities and designers. Seeking to highlight the positive relationship they have with the country of Namibia and their diamond mines.
Whatever you call them, at Adornment & Theory, we’ve always LOVED these earthy, radiant stones. From deep amber to pale champagne, chocolate or desert, these natural colored diamonds all hold a magic that’s quietly seductive and endlessly versatile.
I’ve personally designed with them for years and plan to create even more one-of-a-kind pieces in the year ahead. We’re fortunate to work with trusted diamond vendors who specialize in ethically sourced antique and natural champagne stones.
So if you’re dreaming of a Desert Diamond piece you know where to find us.
