Get the Perfect Fit: A&T's Ring Guide
Before You Measure
A great fit comes down to more than just a number. Your hands change throughout the day, and everything from temperature to band width can affect how a ring feels.
Below, we’ll walk you through a few simple ways to measure your ring size at home, whether you have a ring that already fits or are starting from scratch.
But before you start measuring, keep these tips in mind to help you get the most accurate—and comfortable—fit possible:
- Measure the finger you’ll actually wear the ring on. Your dominant hand is often slightly larger, and even the same finger can differ between hands. Always measure the exact finger where your ring will live.
- Consider the width of the band. Wider bands tend to fit more snugly than delicate ones. If you’re choosing a particularly wide or substantial design, you may need to go up slightly in size.
- Keep temperature in mind. Cold fingers shrink; warm fingers swell. For the most reliable measurement, size your finger when your hands are at a comfortable, everyday temperature.
- Timing matters. Your fingers naturally fluctuate throughout the day based on activity, hydration, and other factors. We recommend measuring later in the day, when your fingers tend to be slightly larger.
- Don’t forget your knuckle. Your ring needs to make it over your knuckle without feeling loose once it reaches the base of your finger. If your knuckle is noticeably wider, take both measurements into consideration when choosing your size.
- Measure more than once. One measurement is a good start; a few are even better. Measure at different times and compare your results before settling on a size.
- Between sizes? Go up. If you’re consistently falling between two sizes, the larger size will generally offer a more comfortable fit.

Method 1: Use Our Printable Ring Sizer
Need to know your size without leaving home? Our printable ring sizer makes it easy to get a quick measurement with just a printer, a pair of scissors, and a few minutes.
While a printable sizer is a great place to start, nothing beats being sized in person. If you want to be extra sure before choosing your ring, visit us in store and let one of our experts help you find your perfect fit.
What You’ll Need
- Printer
- 8.5 × 11-inch standard paper
- Scissors
How to Measure
- Print the Ring Sizer & Conversion Chart. Make sure your printer is set to 100% scale and use standard 8.5 × 11-inch paper. Avoid “Fit to Page” or other scaling options, as they can affect the accuracy of your measurement.
- Cut Out the Sizer. Carefully cut along the indicated lines, including the small slit marked on the guide.
- Find Your Fit. Wrap the sizer around the base of the finger you plan to wear your ring on. Slide the pointed end through the slit and gently tighten until it feels comfortably snug.
- Read Your Size. The number shown at the slit is your approximate ring size. The sizer should feel secure without being tight and should still be able to pass over your knuckle comfortably.
a Little advice
Your fingers can change size throughout the day, so we recommend measuring more than once before settling on a size.
Method 2: Measure Your Finger
No ring sizer? No problem. A flexible measuring tape can help you find your size by measuring the circumference of your finger directly.
What You’ll Need
- A flexible measuring tape
- A ring size conversion chart
How to Measure
- Wrap the Tape Around Your Finger. Choose the finger you plan to wear your ring on and gently wrap the measuring tape around the base.
- Find Your Measurement. Note where the tape meets and record the measurement in millimeters. Keep the tape comfortably snug without pulling it too tight.
- Find Your Size. Compare your measurement with our ring size conversion chart to find the corresponding ring size.
No Measuring Tape? A piece of string, dental floss, or a thin strip of paper works, too. Wrap it around the base of your finger, mark where the ends meet, then lay it flat and measure the length with a ruler. Compare that measurement with our conversion chart to find your approximate size.
A Little Advice
Measure a few times to make sure you’re getting a consistent result. And remember, the goal is snug, not tight. Your ring should stay securely on your finger while still sliding comfortably over your knuckle.
Method 3: Use A ring You Already Love
Already have a ring that fits just right? Use it to find your size without measuring your finger directly. Download our Ring Sizing Guide and use the included conversion chart to find your match. Just make sure you choose a ring that fits comfortably on the same finger where you plan to wear your new piece.
What You’ll Need
- Printer
- 8.5 × 11-inch standard paper
- A ring that fits your intended finger well
How to Measure
- Print the Ring Sizer & Conversion Chart. Set your printer to 100% scale and use standard 8.5 × 11-inch paper. Avoid “Fit to Page” or other scaling options, as they can affect the accuracy of your measurement.
- Choose Your Ring. Select a ring that fits comfortably on the finger you’re measuring—not too tight, not too loose.
- Find Your Match. Place your ring over the printed circles and move it across the chart until you find the closest match.
- Check the Fit. The printed circle should sit just inside the ring, with its outer edge meeting the inside edge of your ring as closely as possible.
- Find Your Size. The number corresponding to the best-matching circle is your approximate ring size.
