Five quick questions with designer and studio jeweler Laura Wood. A presence in the A+T jewel box since the beginning, Laura's brightly colored sculptural work makes a huge impact, and is a favorite of our customers and staff. We are excited to share her inspiration, style, and beyond!
1. Where do you find design inspiration?
LW: Life experience, dance, the human form, nature, city culture, meditation, process, antiques, pressed glass, fashion…
2. How would you describe your style?
LW: I would describe my personal style as contemporary vintage. I enjoy mixing vintage pieces with new designs. I tend to stick to solids in the wardrobe with an emphasis to denim and classic cuts. I’ve never been one to follow trends, I am more interested in how I can flatter my individual shape and vibe.

On any given day you will find me in a wrap top of some kind, a high waisted skirt, red lip, and boss earrings – this is my uniform.
3. If you could have dinner with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?
LW: Michelle Obama
4. What advice would you give someone trying to get into your profession?
LW: Take your time finding your voice. Don’t feel the pressure of social media to force a business or platform. It takes time to cultivate a strong body of work and you need to feel very confident about your direction. Seek experience in as many areas of interest as you can. Be kind, respectful, and pay it forward.
5. What is your personal motto?
LW: You got this.
