Letter from the Owner: On Designing the ARABESQUE Collection

Letter from the Owner: On Designing the ARABESQUE Collection

There is a moment in every collection when it stops belonging to me.

For months, sometimes years, a collection lives quietly inside my sketchbooks. It exists as scattered notes, architectural photographs, pages torn from history books, gemstone pairings, half-finished ideas, and countless sketches.

Then one day, after hundreds of decisions both creative and practical, those ideas become something you can actually wear.

This week, I'm so excited to finally share ARABESQUE with all of you.

The ARABESQUE capsule collection began with an obsession I've carried for years: the architecture of Southern Spain and North Africa. I've always been captivated by the graceful arches, intricate geometry, repeating patterns, and the way light moves through these historic spaces. There is an elegance to this architecture that feels both ancient and completely modern. It was the perfect language for exploring something I've wanted to revisit for a long time: the solitaire ring.

For this collection, I challenged myself to reimagine what a solitaire could become.

Rather than simply placing a beautiful stone in a beautiful setting, I wanted the architecture itself to become part of the story. Every arch, every negative space, every engraved detail was designed to celebrate the gemstone while creating a silhouette that feels unmistakably Adornment & Theory.

Although the collection launched with stunning 1 to 2 carat diamonds, these mountings would look stunning with colored stones to wear with your everyday stack.

Emeralds. Teal sapphires. Champagne diamonds. Rubies. Every gemstone can transform the collection into something entirely new, allowing each ring to become deeply personal while maintaining the architectural language that inspired it.

Behind the Collection

One of the questions I'm asked most often is, "How long does it take to create a collection?"

The answer is...longer than anyone realizes.

Every collection begins with inspiration, but that's only the first chapter. Then come months of sketching, refining proportions, engineering each piece, selecting gemstones, carving prototypes, production, photography, marketing, packaging, website design, and finally sharing it with all of you.

Launching a collection isn't just about making beautiful jewelry. It's about building an entire world around it.

What makes me especially proud of ARABESQUE is that it truly represents the creativity of our entire team.

Our own Bianca Norris and Gabriela Chavez brilliantly creative-directed the photo campaign alongside the incredibly talented photographer Meagan Shuptar. Together they created something that completely exceeded my expectations.

The photographs don't simply document the jewelry. They feel like works of art in their own right. Every image captures the architectural inspiration, the romance, and the quiet drama that inspired the collection from the beginning.

Watching everyone's talents come together reminded me that while I may sketch the jewelry, Adornment & Theory has become something much larger than one designer. It's a collaboration of artists, each bringing their own perspective to the story.

Current Gemstone Obsession

If you've been following my work for any amount of time, you know I tend to become completely obsessed with a gemstone.

This season, it's Malaya Garnet.

If you've never heard of one, you're not alone. Malaya garnets are among the jewelry world's best-kept secrets. They aren't treated, they're incredibly rare, and they display an extraordinary range of colors that dance somewhere between peach, cinnamon, blush, champagne, copper, rose gold, and warm sunset tones. No two are exactly alike.

They have all the warmth of a sunset and all the brilliance you'd expect from a fine garnet, yet they're still one of the most underrated collector gemstones available today.

Naturally... I'm in love.

We've recently acquired several extraordinary 5 to 7 carat Malaya garnets, and I honestly can't stop imagining what they could become. Their size, color, and rarity make them ideal center stones for a completely one-of-a-kind custom piece. These are the kinds of gemstones you build an heirloom around.

If you've ever thought about becoming a gemstone collector, this might be the perfect place to begin.

Thank you, as always, for allowing us to continue creating. Every collection is another chapter in the story we're building together, and ARABESQUE feels like one I've been waiting years to tell.
